new beginnings.

My honey and I jumped on the bandwagon and went to see Inception last night.  We heard amazing reviews from everyone we know, so we wanted to check out the hype for ourselves.

2 words: mind-blowing :D  such a great movie. my butt did go numb because it was about 2.5 hours long, but i wasn't bored for a single second.  awesome special effects, AWESOME acting, and such an intriguing plot-line.  great movie.  if you haven't seen it, go now!

anywhos, I haven't updated about school in awhile, I think the last place I left you was that I was applying to programs and a little undecided.  But as of this summer, I finally have some direction :)

August 16th, I start the Occupational Therapy program! I have a couple years of speech-language pathology under my belt from my time at ECU, so I figured this program was my best bet just in case I decided to return and get a masters degree in either SLP or OT.  I went to my orientation last month and I am SUPER excited for the next two years.  I can already tell I'm going to make a ton of friends and have a ton of fun, plus it's highly likely that I'll enjoy my profession.  I cannot wait for what's to come. :D

I didn't weigh-in yesterday, my week was THAT bad.  I really need to get it together.  This new gym membership should mean good things.  I picked up a gym schedule the other day and guess what my gym does every Tuesday from 6-7pm? - "Pizza Night"  and every Thursday from 7-8am? -"Bagel Breakfast".   What the heck planet fitness?? Why on earth would you tempt me with my two favorite foods in the universe?! what kind of gym is this?! augh. Note to self: do NOT even attempt to go to the gym Tuesdays between 6and7 and thursdays between 7and8.  it's just not going to happen.

i have a LONG day of unpacking ahead of me.

guess who cowgirled up and joined a gym?

today is the day! it's moving day!!

after my lonely excursion to the gym this morning, kristi's parents are coming over to help us move. Like completely move. I know we won't technically be in out new house until Wednesday, but I'm so stressed and so over it that I just want to move and be done with it. kristi and I are going to keep a TV and camp out on our air mattresses downstairs in the living room tonight :) should be a site to see!

Now, onto the super huge important news that will probably shock everyone...

I, Erin Wright, after 4 months of whining and complaining and procrastinating and excuse making, JOINED THE FREAKING GYM!!!

Yes yes y'all!!!!!!

So I've only been twice but I do love it. I love running in AC, (yesterday was 98 degrees with a 105 heat index! Gahh)and I was able to get my fastest two mile time ever! 24 minutes wooooot :) hehe. call me a turtle but I don't careee !! I plan on running a 5k this morning! half-marathon here I comeeee :)

So, because it's humanly impossible for me to sleep in past 7am (even on my only day off this week) it's time to hit the gym!

WEIGH-IN WEDNESDAY #11

minutes exercised: 512
last week's weight: 175 lbs
current weight: 175 lbs
deficit: +-0

the majority of my minutes this week were gym minutes! because i had that 5 day pass to Gold's.  going to the gym is a fun and easy way to rack up minutes, because idk about anyone else but time goes by SO fast there. i love it.

now the 7-11 booster challenge wrap up:

MY INITIAL GOALS:

1. 6 am wake-up calls

i did pretty darn well with this.  i ran the loop at 6am a LOT these past 4 weeks. i've gotten to where sleeping past 8 isn't even an option on weekends/days off.  i like that.  i get much more accomplished.  so i'll say this goal was met!

2. if it goes in my mouth, i must write it down
thank god for my "lose it" app on my iphone.  WHAT a lifesaver!! i was able to write everything down, and start a wonderful habit.  knowing i have to write everything down makes me think twice about what i'm eating which is exactly what i was looking for.  this goal, met.

3. push play, everyday.
i'm going to say this goal was not met because i did p90x far and few between.  yes, i will always do ab ripper x religiously, but everything else was a nogo.  i wanted to do some yoga, and i didn't even do that once.  so i'll consider this goal not met.

4. 2 miles, no breaks.
i'm more proud of this than anything.  i was able to do this on the treadmill, every day last week.  my fastest time was 25 minutes.  travis says that's turtle slow but i dont even care, i will just have to keep practicing.  i'm just thrilled i can do it.  i have come SO far with my running and I am so proud of myself.  this is a HUGE goal accomplishment!

3 out of 4?  i'll take that! it makes my maintain week not even seem like a bust :)

WEIGH-IN WEDNESDAY #10

Minutes Exercised: 320
Last Week's Weight: n/a
Current Weight: 175 lbs
Deficit: +3 lbs

this is the worst week (or two weeks) i've had all summer.  i'll face it, i went on vacation, skipped out on my diet, made a million bad choices, started a new work-out regimine  i lost motivation and i screwed up.  big time.

but because i'm back on track, this doesn't bother me.  i know next week will be a much better week.  i know i will have a ton of minutes to show for it and hopefully i can get back down to 172. or even further. i just need to keep moving.  i will keep moving. and in turn, i will keep losing. losing = winning.

now, the goals.  let's revisit them. created them on May 6, 2010

1. See 150 lbs. (I am 21 years old and 5'8" ... So while this will still have me considered somewhat "overweight," I think it's an attainable goal for summer so I'm stickin with it.)
nope.  but i'm not worried about it.  it's going to be way harder than i expected. at this point i'd like to change that to 160.

2. TONE MY LEGS AND BOOTY! You can tell by my pictures this is my HUGE trouble area. I am quite the pear. I want to purchase a HOT pair of expensive size 8 jeans, and get into them! (I'm currently a 14)
i'm currently in a 10 :)  my dress for emily's wedding is a 10.  so close i can taste it.

3. Learn how to ride a bike, and WELL!
no such luck.  buuuut i've been beasting the stationary bike at the gym :)

4. Complete this round of P90X an Insanity. And start new ones!
did it.  tried to start new ones but haven't managed yet.

5. Take a belly dancing class. (thanks Deb! lol)
this is still something i'm super interested about but it has slipped my mind.  i am looking into those as soon as i wrap up this blog!!

6. Get over my fear of the gym, and JOIN one!
did it, woooooot :)

7. Be able to comfortably run one mile without stopping.
TWO miles. yesss.

8. ZUMBA! Has anyone taken this class? I want to!
i've been twice!

9. Up my weights from 8s to 15s while still doing my same amount of reps.
yep! i even use 20s on some of the exercsises!

10. Have to get some yoga blocks because my reach extends beyond my feet.
well, i couldn't touch my toes when i wrote this list.  i now can do that, easily! :)

11. Up my amount of dancing and singing and carrying on, turn down the amount of heavy beer consumption.
first part, check.  second - i've failed miserably.  i have however, downgraded to a lower calorie beer.  this has helped.

12. Attempt and FINISH a half-marathon? I think so! :)
well i signed up for one! gonna have to see if this can be checked off in November :)

13. Get my diet down to a science, and crack my addiction to breads, pastas, cheeses, and potato chips!
no.  not even close. i feel like this will be an ongoing struggle.

14. Motivate others in their fitness journeys.
i hope!

15. Have the best summer of my life!! :)
so far, so good.

so that just made me feel 100% better.  i've done really well no matter how crappy my weigh-in was this week.  the big picture is what matters, and i'm a completely different person mentally, oh and i'm in a SIZE 10.

okay, that is all :)

gym experiences, a second time around.

It's safe to say I'm hooked. I, EMWD, LOVE the gym. It's where I'm meant to be, or work-out. Or whatever lol.

Yesterday went as follows:
5pm was probably not the best time to go. VERY overwhelming. but I looked in the classroom and saw a whole bunch of pregnant ladies taking a class, and that super motivated me. If preggers ladies can do it, I sure as heck can do it!! so I did 30 mins on the elliptical, ran 2 miles on the treadmill, did the stairmaster until my calves were burning, then did p90x legs&back. Safe to say working 2 hours on my legs and butt = major soreness today. I can't move! (especially since my obliques are still super sensitive from core day on monday!) Oh then i did 10 minutes in the sauna :) love that thing! time just goes by way faster at the gym. I'm going to buy a membership next week and I might be 100% serious this time! :D

Today dee and I are tackling shoulders & arms. This should be wonderful, seeing as how those body parts are the only ones on my body still in commission!! :)

Today is weigh-in Wednesday. To make up for a shitty week last week, I'm going to make this one a good one. I need to reevaluate my goals. cause I'm sure they're all messed up now. I don't understand how all of you ladies took vacations at the beginning of summer and didn't gain weight and still exercised! I respect y'all sooo much for that.

apologies and affirmations

I'm back on track. I had a horrible lapse of motivation and a long, unhealthy family vacation. Also, money has been VERY tight and I haven't been able to stay on a diet.

Because I had nothing positive to say about getting in shape, I completely neglected my blog, the LHA weigh-in, the LHA ladies, working-out, dieting, and feeling good about myself.

But if one thing is true today, it's that I'm back on track.

remember how I say I'm joining a gym, oh every day? well, I took my first steps and actually walked inside the gym. I even went as far as to discuss the prices and contract, get a free 5 day pass, AND work-out for a good 180 minutes.

Reflections:
I love the gym. This gym especially. I know Gold's is known for people who are already in shape, juiced up meat heads/body builders, etc. So naturally I was vErY nervous and very intimidated. It's HUGE. So I make a beeline for the women's locker room so I can hide or cry or sit in the sauna, and I find a SEPARATE weight room. Yes, it has only one entrance and that is through the women's locker room. No men, no meatheads, just equipment for women (and a pretty sweet soundtrack of girly music) it was everything I could have ever wanted. I was able to do Ab Ripper X, 45 minutes on the elliptical, run two miles, weight-lift, and sit in the sauna. It was a perfect first gym experience and I am going again tonight. I migh FOR REAL be joining a gym, y'all.

and to all of the lHAers I've completely neglected, I plan on weighing-in tomorrow! I know it's been awhile but I finally feel good about it. :D

Lucy and I are going to the zoo today! And Emily's wedding is Saturday :) I got a HOT dress and I plan on it looking equally as hot on me :)

xoxoxo -E
